It’s about the first website Christina made using WordPress was just a little less than 2 years ago for her daughter’s dance studio that was putting on
a local production of “The Nutcracker”.

It’s kind of a funny story about how she started using WordPress because Christina is known by many people in internet marketing as someone who
can take technology and teach it to any “technophobe” who wants to learn.

5 ideas for a legitimate online business

A legitimate online business is the dream of all WAHMs. The problem is, we don’t know what is a good way to work online and what isn’t, and even if we did, we don’t know how to get started. If we did, we’d be doing it – wouldn’t we?

So, what things are possible online? What can we, as not really very technical people (sorry if you are, but I am addressing the majority here!) do online to earn money? Here are 5 ideas:

1 Writing If you like to write, you can write to earn money online. You can work as a freelancer, or you can affiliate market as a writer. Both of these can earn you an income.

2 Selling things on auction sites. The best known of these is eBay, but there are several others. You can either sell stuff that you no longer have a use for, or you can comb thrift/charity shops for bargains. All you need is a PC, internet access, a digital camera and you are away. There are some fees attached to using auction sites, but these are usually taken after the sale, so there is little, if any, outlay.

3 Affiliate Marketing. This involves promoting products for other people and receiving a commission for it. This can be very lucrative if done well as commission can be as high as 75% of the product cost. As the products are other people’s you have no worries about fulfilment of the order. In fact, often these products are downloadable anyway.

4 Write an eBook. Not as complicated as it sounds. eBooks that are non-fiction and self help or manuals tend to be the best sellers. So,if, for example, you know how to identify the “Lilac Crested Roller” and the “Pintailed Shryke”, write an eBook. I can promise you that there are other people who are just as interested in the birds of Southern Africa as you are!

5 Create your own website featuring something you are passionate about. Whatever it is that “lights your candle”, be it those colourful birds, or salsa dancing, or traditional Persian cooking, or whatever, there are people out there who would be interested. There are companies who can provide video tutorials and online help, so that even the “technically disadvantaged” can do it.

Affiliate Marketing – Would You Like A Course?

At the very end of last year, I talked about running a course on affiliate marketing. It never happened, because my life took over briefly.

Well, I’m talking about it again now! What I have in mind is a course which runs for about 6 weeks, and consists of a weekly webinar, where I can demonstrate to you, step by step, how to choose a product, set up an affiliate site and then drive traffic to it. This will be suitable for TOTAL beginners, as well as those with a little more of a clue and will be designed to help you to start to make money online. The webinars, plus other resources and information would be available to you 24/7 via a members area, especially for those who are on the course.

Earn an income whilst staying at home with your children.

I have been busy researching on your behalf… My children are now 13 and 8, but when they were babies, I spent almost 8 years as a stay at home mum. I worked in IT before I had my first daughter and I thought that I would have the baby, hand it to the nearest midwife, pick up my briefcase and rush back to work. Oh how little I knew!

Once Verity was born, I (of course) didn’t want to return to work. I stayed home for the first 6 months of her life and then our financial situation meant that I had to return to work. I worked for the next 12 months and hated it SO MUCH that we rearranged our lives and I gave up work. I didn’t return for 7 years.

During those 7 years, I searched for a way to make an income that meant I could stay at home with my daughters. I didn’t want to earn a fortune (although hey, that would have been great!) I just wanted to make enough to pay some bills etc. I did some party plan, some mystery shopping, some other bits and pieces, but I never did find that special something that meant that I could work from home flexibly.

Nowadays, it is much easier to find flexible work. Things like homeshoring (where you either make or receive phone calls from home on behalf of various companies) have meant that you can work AT home rather than FROM home. However, the one way that seems to be a legend in its own lifetime is earning an income online.

I am currently researching this for you and I will be running a “How to Earn an Income Online for Dummies” in the New Year. This course will be a series of webinars and will be aimed at stay at home mums (moms!) who have the following IT skills -

can send an email
can shop online
can knock out a letter from a word processing package
that’s it!

I will make it so simple that if you can do the three things above, you can follow this course. I will be as jargon free as possible and any jargon I do use will be in a glossary and totally explained in plain English.
